STAR Technology Enterprise Center Located on the central west coast of Florida, the STAR Technology Enterprise Center (STAR TEC) is the Tampa Bay area's first technology and manufacturing business accelerator. Housed within the Young-Rainey Science, Technology, and Research Center, a former Department of Energy facility, STAR TEC supports the growth of early stage manufacturing and technology-based companies, enabling them to migrate their product/service to market more rapidly and effectively. Tampa Bay Technology Incubator The Tampa Bay Technology Incubator (TBTI) is part of USF CONNECT, a program tying together the elements of economic development at the University of South Florida. TBTI exists to support technology research as a catalyst for economic development and advocates the development and construction of facilities for high-technology companies and related support functions. In promoting research with companies and the University of South Florida, the Tampa Bay Technology Incubator seeks to address the needs of local high technology employers in such areas as engineering, biometrics and other technologies. The primary purpose of the Tampa Bay Technology Incubator is to stimulate the economy of the State of Florida through the development of high technology industry while alleviating the government of some of its economic burdens. The Tampa Bay Technology Incubator works closely with Enterprise Florida, Hillsborough County, the City of Tampa and the Florida High Tech Corridor Council. Univeristy of Central Florida Business Incubation Program Opened in 1999, the UCF Business Incubation Program, is a University-driven community partnership providing early stage companies with the enabling tools, training and infrastructure to create financially stable high growth enterprises. The Incubator provides client companies with the experience and insight needed to create successful companies through relationships it has created with its network of experienced entrepreneurs, professional service providers, economic development partners, small business service providers, university experts as well as a dedicated staff. University of Florida's Sid Martin Biotechnology Incubator The Sid Martin Biotechnology Incubator is a pioneer in bio-business incubation and a unique component of UF’s successful commercialization efforts. To date, its companies have received $300 million of investment and $100 million in grant awards. Its mission is to provide space, equipment, and support services to expedite research and commercial development of promising biotechnologies in the context of viable, well managed start-up companies that will benefit the university both economically and academically.
