
TechStart Tampa Bay is committed to its mission of creating a better future for the at-risk youth of Tampa Bay by providing inspiration, education and opportunities in technology fields. TechStart Tampa Bay is the charitable arm of Tampa Bay Technology Forum, a 501(c)3 organization, founded in 2001 to provide a mechanism for the membership of TBTF to give back to the community.
Current TechStart Tampa Bay Initiatives
Computer*rific:
The goal of the Computer*rific Program is to provide every Boys & Girls Club member with daily access to state-of-the-art technology that helps to develop the technological knowledge, skills and attitudes needed to fully participate in the work force. Since its inception, the Program has opened 28 computer labs in area Boys & Girls Clubs as well as one at Metropolitan Ministries, a local organization who help the homeless community, serving over 800 kids per day.
Scholarship Program:
TechStart Tampa Bay is committed to raising funds to offeri scholarships for at-risk students who are interesting in pursuing Science, Technology, Engineering and Math careers (STEM). We have awarded over 50 college plan scholarships for 6th to 12th grade students in Hillsborough and Pinellas Counties. Local companies such as Raymond James & Associates, Veredus Corporation, The Nielsen Company, Syniverse Technologies, Enporion, Larson Allen and Tribridge have committed to the program.
Technology is in IT…….
Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) and Sports
Technology is in it… is the latest initiative of TechStart Tampa Bay. With a vision of having Tampa Bay recognized as the leader in Science,Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) opportunities for youth. The purpose of the Technology is in it… initiative is to introduce area youth to the technology involved in everyday life. One of the initiative to introduce youth to the STEM components in sports was at the 2012 Grand Prix in St. Petersburg. Fifty youth learned about the amazing technology involved in racing. Another forthy kids were participants at the 2013 race and got backstage access to the the cars engineering and technical wonders.

IT Certifications:
TechStart is strongly committed to assisting youth in obtaining the appropriate training and life skills to compete in today's economy. Through our business and education partnerships we will provide opportunities for students to attend training programs and ultimately earn technology certifications.
